Welcome To Triumph

Capturing the energy and mood of an epic battle has always been something that I wanted to try - balancing all the little details and materials to tell a compelling visual story has always seemed like the 'holy grail' of art to me.

I decided to design this as an ongoing personal collection, working in black and white since I feel more comfortable with pen-and-ink for such a complex subject. Working to keep the gesture and energy of a chaotic battle through the rendering process is a fun challenge, and I've immensely enjoyed the time I've spent on it.

Despite being digital, this project is approached with a very traditional workflow, largely just working on one layer and sculpting with light and shadow by adding and erasing away from it.
